The word speed may be synonymous with the Emirates Motor Sports Federation, but it remains a fact that safety has been, and always will be, uppermost in our minds, be it on the race track or the roads.

While the main objective of the EMSF is to promote motor sport in the UAE in a safe and controlled environment, the Federation for the past decade has been actively involved in a number of road safety projects, pouring in over a million dirhams to educate drivers on the need to adhere to road rules in order to save lives, not just their own but others’ too.

Some of the activities that the EMSF undertakes in order to drive home the necessity to drive safe include the Class Car and Bikes Parade and the Convertible Cars Parade, held annually during the Dubai Shopping Festival in conjunction with the DSF and Dubai Immigration and Naturalization Services.

Apart from this, the EMSF was actively involved in a global road safety initiate of the FIA Foundation, Bridgestone Corporation and motoring clubs worldwide.

Last year, the EMSF conducted a huge exercise in over 15 schools educating tomorrow’s drivers today on road rules.

In the coming months and years, there are plans on the drawing board to involve as large a section of the society as is possible to drive home the point that safety comes first.
