KARTING RATES:

Ordinary Session
1 hour        - 200 dirham
30 minutes - 100 dirham
15 minutes - 50 dirham

*Note: The ordinary session is just rental and use of the kart. No racing is allowed.

Grand Prix Format
1 hour per kart - 300 dirham

*Note: Maximum 15 karts at the race track. Each driver will be assigned a kart where he has to run 5 laps of practice and another 5 laps to qualify. There will be 3 heats of 12 laps each. The winner will be the driver who scores the maximum number of points.

Endurance Race
1 hour per kart - 400 dirham

*Note: The Endurance Race is organized like a real team competition race which will require a minimum rental of 5 karts. In this race, each driver will be given a 5 minute practice session. Each group will then need to choose their best driver for the first 2 “Qualifying” laps that will be given. The remaining time will be the race proper itself.

-IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER-

    * Advance booking is required especially for large groups.
    * Closed type shoes must always be worn.
    * Single engine for 9 – 11 years old.
    * Double engine for 12 years old and above.

THE BMW Driving Skills Challenge organized by the Emirates Motor Sports Federation got underway on the sidelines of the 9th International Motor Show 2008 at Expo Centre Sharjah on November 18.

The debut of the five-day event saw 28 competitors of various nationalities negotiate a BMW through a specially set up track in the car park located next to Gate No. 3 of Expo Centre Sharjah.

Khalil Mohammed Khalil, Alaa Said Rahrough and Yasser Ahmed Mohammed walked off with the first, second and third prize with times of 26.01 seconds, 26.91 seconds and 27.06 seconds respectively.

The winners received a trophy and Certina watch each while all participants received a certificate.

The challenge, sponsored by BMW, tests the driving skills of participants and highlights the importance of abiding by traffic rules and regulations.

The driving skills challenge is being held daily from 5pm to 10pm until November 22, the last day of the automobile show.

Pirelli, Certina and Mobil 1 are the other co-sponsors of the challenge.
